 Therapy of Albuquerque

505-270-4398

I offer my services on a sliding scale based on a number of factors.  My rates range from $60.00 per session to $160.00 per session.  Sessions last from 50 to 90 minutes.  I do not bill insurance companies. I do not bill insurance companies primarily because I want to work for you, not for them.

Typically, an insurance company will pay for the services of a mental health provider if and only if the clinician provides the insurance company with a clinical diagnosis.  Furthermore, many insurance companies will refuse payment if the diagnosis is not “severe” enough.  But, often times when an individual needs and seeks therapy, they do not really require a diagnosis.  Frequently, a person should and will seek counseling NOT because they are sick, but rather because certain normal and situational events have brought them to the realization that professional help could be useful.  This can create a dilemma for the therapist who will be getting paid by an insurance company.  On the one hand, she may know that unless she assigns a diagnosis that is classified as a "disorder" or an "illness", she will not get paid.  On the other hand, such a diagnosis may forever stigmatize you, the client, and has the potential to make life even more difficult later on. Moreover, clinicians are typically reluctant to change a diagnosis made by another professional and are generally advised against doing so.

Since I do not deal with insurance companies, I am never tempted to mistake people for their problems, and you can be sure that our confidentiality will never be compromised.

(I will be happy to provide you with a receipt for my services and most insurance companies will reimburse 50-70% of your expenses for out-of-network providers. Call them to confirm their policy.)

“Man surprises me most because he sacrifices his health in order to make money.  Then he sacrifices money to recuperate his health.  And then he is so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present; the result being that he does not live in the present or the future; he lives as if he is never going to die, and then dies having never really lived.”
